Based in the Suffolk village of Woolpit, the Health Centre aims to provide:
“the type of care that we would expect for ourselves and our own families.”
We provide services to over 16,000 patients who live in a practice area of 75 square miles of rural West Suffolk, straddling the A14, between Thurston in the west, and Haughley in the east.
We pride ourselves on the high standards of our care – we are holders of the Royal College of General Practitioners Practice Accreditation Award, a quality mark held by only 19 practices in the UK.
Our 7 GP Partners lead a multidisciplinary team of over 50 staff, all of whom are based in our purpose-built premises.
We are passionate about training the next generation of doctors – most of our current team have been trainees here in the past. Therefore as an accredited training practice we host Medical Students from the University of Cambridge, Foundation Doctors from the West Suffolk Hospital and GP Registrars from Ipswich and the West Suffolk Hospitals throughout the year. In addition to doctors, we are also committed to training numerous staff to reach the next step in their careers.
We are a dispensing practice which means that we provide medications to all our patients who live over 1 mile from their nearest pharmacy.
Woolpit Health Centre is a ‘Research Active Practice’ – a part of the Primary Care Research Network, assisting with clinical research into how medications can be used to improve the health of our patients.
